Wheeler Farmstead Dutch Wagon House reconstruction update

with 1 Comment

Work has been continuing on the foundation of the Dutch Wagon House adjoining theĀ Historical Society’s Town Museum and Archive Education Center at the Wheeler Farmstead (817 South Main Street, Route 7). After excavating the area, the footings were poured a couple of weeks ago. Now the concrete has been delivered and is being poured for the foundation.

The “bump out” facing the back, shown in the second photo in the first row (closeup view of footings), is to support the very unusual and interesting 3-hole outhouse used on the farmstead in the early days.

When this foundation level is finished, native stone will form the next layer. Stay tuned . . .

Thank you for posting progress photos. I follow Farm updates with a keen eye. My first visit to the farm was in 1947.
