Newsboy Statue & Fountain Rededication – Monday, Oct. 10th

The Great Barrington Historical Commission and the Great Barrington Historical Commission are co-sponsoring the rededication of the Newsboy Statue from 10am to 11am on Monday, October 10th (Columbus Day) at Newsboy Park (Route 23/Maple Avenue at Silver Street).

The event includes public viewing of the monument and working fountain, performance by members of the Berkshire Ukulele Band, introductory remarks by Paul Ivory, Chairman of the Historical Commission, a description of the statue’s components and its history by Gary Leveille, local historian, author and Commission member, and the introduction of his just-published history of the monument, The Mystery and History of the Great Barrington Newsboy Statue.

A recognized authority on the Newsboy statue,Leveille has completed extensive research on its history and lead past efforts to preserve the monument and celebrate its historical significance.
