On Wednesday, April 17, in honor of Jackie Robinson’s 100th birthday, the Great Barrington Historical Society will present a program about Negro League Baseball in Massachusetts and the role of the black baseball player in the state.
The speaker is Kevin Larkin, a former GB police officer and author of the book Baseball in the Bay State. Mr. Larkin has spent a great deal of his life researching the history of baseball in Massachusetts, and will highlight the black athlete’s struggle to gain acceptance into America’s pastime. A short Annual Meeting will precede the program.
Please join us for this event at 7 pm at the Claire Teague Senior Center, South Main Street, Great Barrington. The program is FREE and open to the public. For more information, call us at 413-591-8702 or email us at info@gbhistory.org.
