To conclude our nostalgic look back at the 50s, the Great Barrington Historical Society, in partnership with the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, is sponsoring a Halloween double feature on Sunday, October 29th. Prices are $7.00 for one film; $10 for both.
In the 50s, when you went to the movies, there were always two films shown: a “B” movie as well as the main feature. Our “B:” is the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1956, starting at 4pm. It’s followed by our feature film: Hitchcock’s Vertigo (1958), showing at 7pm. See them again on the big screen!
The popular Sunday Strummers Ukulele Band (they were a hit at our Annual Antique Show & Flea Market in July) will be performing pre-film music of the 50s and spooky Halloween tunes live on stage at 3:30pm and 6:30pm, as you arrive and take your seat. Come in costume and get a free 50s appetizer plate with your meal at the Castle Street Cafe in between the double feature.
Tickets can be purchased starting Friday, October 6th on the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center’s web site (www.mahaiwe.org) All proceeds benefit the GBHS and the Mahaiwe.
