You’ve probably passed them many times on the east side of Stockbridge Road (Route 7). The buildings have different colors now, but years ago they were painted the same barn red when they were all part of Jenifer House. They were then (as now) an important part of Great Barrington’s commercial life.
On Wednesday, October 5th, you can learn all about this well-known tourist mecca at the Great Barrington Historical Society’s program presented by Jill Lipski at the Claire Teague Senior Center, 917 South Main Street (Route 7) at 7pm.
Jill’s father Karl Lipski was the owner of Jenifer House, which opened in the 1950s on the former Crissey Farm site. The event is free, but donations are gratefully accepted!

When I was younger my Mom used to bring me to my grandma’s in N.Egremont Mass, and we would always visit Jennifer house.
My mom would always buy Jennifer House Molasses cookies. They were so delicious!!! We had a family of 8 kids, and she would always be buying dinner ware that was only available there. My Mom has passed but my Dad still has the dinner ware and uses it to this day. I always enjoyed exploring all the barns. Many Many Many Great Memories!!!! Always looked forward to visiting.

I too remember visiting the Jennifer House every summer growing up (60s – 80s). The molasses cookies were the best part! I’ll be there next weekend. Is it still there?

No unfortunately. The buildings are there with assorted businesses – the most popular being the Barrington Brewery (craft beer and food). Sorry no cookies!

Cleaning out drawers this evening and found a 1986 Jennifer house catalog. Came online to see if they were still in business. Bought a lot of wonderful things from them.
