Would you sponsor a window for our “House of History”?

As part of the GB Historical Society’s painting project planned for late this summer (including the farmhouse/museum and Dutch Wagon House), we did not account for the hefty bill to replace the 4 window frames and re-seat those windows over the porch.

The house was last painted 11 years ago, and thanks to recent donations and fundraising efforts, we’ll be able to tackle the project. It involves substantial prepping prior to painting, including power washing, scraping, window re-glazing, and shake replacement. However, we recently learned that the window frames above the porch roof have deteriorated due to the back-splash from that roof over the years, and need to be replaced and protected. The estimated cost per window is $1200.

As you can imagine, the additional $4800 cost has placed a huge burden on the Society’s repainting budget.

JUST IN: The good news is that, thanks to window sponsorships by Marilyn Osgood, Dr. Richard and Pam Clarke, and another donation for $500, we now have TWO and 1/2 windows paid for! Is there someone who could sponsor the remaining 1 1/2 windows or part thereof? Would you consider sponsoring “on time,” pledging $100 per month for a year?

Your sponsorship adds your name to this house as part of your personal legacy. Please send your check to the GB Historical Society at P.O. Box 1106, Great Barrington MA 01230 or pay online using the PayPal icon reading “Choose an Amount” on the Contact/Donate page on this website.
