Update: Museum interior improvements – January, 2019

with No Comments

Despite icy winds, freezing rain, and winter storms, work on the interior of the GBHS Museum continues. Eugene Kinne of Gennari Plumbing & Heating has finished the rough plumbing in the reconfigured existing bathroom, and in the space for the new handicap-accessible bathroom. This also involved additional piping in other parts of the farmhouse.

A new toilet in the existing bathroom has been installed, and a new sink and utility sink are planned for the space. The former kitchen area is being converted into a handicap-accessible bathroom, including a new window. Funding for this project was acquired through a Community Preservation Act (CPA) grant.

In the spring, work will begin on a handicap-accessible walkway leading from the parking area to the Museum’s front porch. The Museum is open year round. Please visit and take a free tour on Saturdays and Sundays between 10am and 2pm and Monday through Thursday from 9am to noon. We’re at 817 South Main Street (Route 7) in Great Barrington.
